Here & Now has qualified as a service provider of Community Living BC (CLBC) in November 2017 to provide Community Inclusion, Shared Living (Home Share or Live-in Support), and Host Agency services for adults with developmental disabilities. CLBC is the provincial crown corporation that funds support and services to adults with developmental disabilities, as well as individuals who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and who also have significant difficulty doing things on their own. Individuals who are looking for community inclusion or shared living services must be eligible for the funding though Community Living BC.

Community Inclusion

Day Program for Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Here & Now Day Program offers program participants the opportunity for social inclusion, recreation, creative expression, life skills development, and volunteerism. For this, Here & Now meets and listens the individuals and their families to know what their needs are and plan a customized program for them according to Here & Now Process for Customized Program

Based on the customized program developed, individuals supported participate in their community – making friends, going places and doing things that they like such as art, music, exercise, play, shopping, cooking, walking, transit. But the most important thing that we have in mind is their happiness. We believe from our experiences that they are able to show their strength and ability when they are happy with what they enjoy.

Shared Living – Home Share and Live-in Support

Shared living is a residential option in which an individual with developmental disability shares a home with someone who is contracted to provide ongoing residential support. In some shared living situations, the individual lives with one person. In other cases, the individual lives with a couple or a family. Shared living means living with and sharing life’s experiences together and forming a supporting and caring relationship.

There are two types of shared living support:

  • Home Sharing: This is the most common type of shared living and involves an individual with developmental disability living in the shared living provider’s home.
  • Live-in support: In this type of shared living support, an individual receives support in your own home.

An individual has the opportunity to choose the type of arrangement that works best.

Here & Now aims to create homes in which people with and without developmental disabilities live, work, and discover faith together.
