Since his son with developmental disability joined the Day Program at Here and Now Community Society in 2019, he became a member of board of directors.  After majoring in civil engineering, he worked in the design of underground structures such as subways, road and railway tunnels for about 15 years in Korea. He is currently a member of the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) and has been working as a geotechnical engineer at an engineering firm since 2008. He hopes his dedication to the agency would be positive to individuals with disabilities in the community for hopeful future ahead.

Jinha had operated two franchise stores in shipping and printing business for over ten years, and has been working for Federal Government since early 2019.  He had heard about Here and Now Community Society (H&N) for many years, but only started to know H&N after he personally met and assisted one of H&N family members for work experience.  He has been impressive how H&N has been growing and wants to help H&N to achieve their long-term goals.

I’m a mother of a son with autism spectrum who has been part of the H&N day program and home share program. I have been an executive member of the Bethesda Parents Society. I have volunteered as an instructor and administrator at Korean senior community school. I have been joining as a family supporter at H&N and as a presenter at CLBC Welcom Workshop. I hope to contribute to all members of H&N and future families as a H&N board member of directors. 

I have a son with developmental disabilities. I left Korea in 2014 and passed through Vancouver, where I learned about the Here and Now Community Society and have stayed connected through support ever since. I lived in Saint John, New Brunswick, for about six years before moving to Vancouver. I hope that my work experience in finance in Korea and my business experience in Canada can help create a better and more supportive environment for people with disabilities.

Minsun Jung is a parent who has an adult son who is a participant of the Community Inclusion Program at Here and Now Community Society. She has been a member of the Here and Now Community Society Board of Directors from 2015 to 2023. She worked as a Korean Family Support at Bethesda Christian Association to connect the services from CLBC and MCFD to the Korean families with family members with special needs. She worked as a community support worker at Community Ventures Society. 

She hopes to advocate, build and accomplish the vision together with Korean families in Canada to provide the loved ones with special needs ‘Happy Future Life’.

I am a father of two children and currently work as a CPA at a utility company. My eldest child has a developmental disability, and that led me to serve as a board member from 2015 to 2023. When we first received the diagnosis, we were overwhelmed and had no idea where to start, but Here & Now provided us with tremendous support. I hope our society can become a better place for children with disabilities and their families, and I wish that Here & Now can continue to be of help in that journey.

I have a son with developmental disabilities, and I have been operating Kim Jung Hwa Dental Clinic  in Burnaby since 2013. In search of a better environment for my son, I came to Canada in 2004. I initially settled in Saint John, New Brunswick, but eventually moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where there is better support for our children.

I am truly grateful for the community of Here & Now, where families of individuals with developmental disabilities can share their challenges and rely on each other.

Although my contribution may be small, I sincerely hope to work together so that my child and all of our children can continue to grow and live in a better environment.

As a mother of a son born in 2012 who is on the autism spectrum, I currently serve as the director of More Than Enough, a Christian worldview-based community school for neurodivergent children and their families. I teach Christian worldview classes from my living room to students ranging from elementary to high school, and I also work as a financial counsellor for parents of children with disabilities, helping them build stable foundations for their families. I was first introduced to Here and Now through Executive Director Bosang Lee during a counselling journey for my son. That encounter became a turning point in my life, offering me practical insight and clear direction for parenting. I especially hope to support other parents of young children by helping them find not only emotional stability but also meaningful connection and restoration within this community.
